I find it funny when youtubers wet their hands for the fish meanwhile there is a hook in the fish's eyeball and still ends up dropping it on the ground or just kills it for food. Don't think the fish cares that your hands are wet when they are already in so much pain.

Been watching your videos, just to make my Grand Father feel like I am brave enough to fish! Fishing and hunting are like the two big rights of passion and I catch a fish recently!

I feel like freshwater fish are too cold and inactive to go for lures when the water temp is low, as was the case on your trip. Where I grew up fishing, we would not usually catch anything with lures until all the ice was gone and the plants (lily pads and reeds) appeared. Locals had luck with ice fishing, which seemed to exclusively be done with live bait.... but I see you got your fish after all! I had no idea a fish kidney was lodged against the spine. Nice job.
